Outdoor Yoga in Primrose Park
188 Street and 84 Avenue in Edmonton
Outdoor Yoga classes will begin each Spring/Summer, as soon as the weather allows. Classes will run, weather permitting, until September or October.
Primrose Park is a beautiful spot for Yoga! There is lots of parking along 188 Street and along 84 Avenue with easy access to the park. We set up on the East side of the park, along a grove of trees that provide shade for those who want it. Classes are generally held on the northside of the trees, near the baseball diamond, however on rare occasions we may be on the southside of the trees by the soccer pitch if the ball diamond is in use or if it provides better shelter from the wind.
Classes are generally one hour in length, however classes are dependent on the conditions. No refunds will be given if a class needs to be shortened due to inclement weather.
The schedule is based on the weather forecast and my availability and will change weekly (days and times). During Outdoor Yoga season, those who are on my Outdoor Yoga mailing list will receive an email each week with the upcoming week’s schedule. If you would like to be on my Outdoor Yoga mailing list, please email me and ask to be added. You can also visit the Outdoor Yoga Registration page for the current schedule. The coming week’s schedule will be emailed/posted every Sunday.
Classes are based on pay-what-you-can donations, with a suggested donation of $15 – $20. Please keep in mind that this is my livelihood and the same amount of planning, time and energy goes into teaching outdoor classes as indoor classes. Payments can be made through the donation box on my homepage, through etransfer to kpoweryoga@shaw.ca or by cash the day of the class.
Registration is quick and easy using my Outdoor Yoga Registration page. Registration is recommended and appreciated so I have an idea of how many are coming, but drop ins are always welcome.
Note that Outdoor Yoga is subject to environmental conditions and the schedule is subject to change. Only those who are registered will be notified of class changes/cancellations by email. Changes/cancellations will also be posted on the Outdoor Yoga Registration page. If you are dropping in, please check this page prior to coming to class to ensure the class is still running.
Classes will only be cancelled in the event of inclement weather, extreme wildfire smoke/poor air quality, very wet field conditions or low registration. If I need to cancel a class, I do my best to do so at least an hour ahead of time whenever possible. I will generally teach at an air quality at or below 7, however by running a class, I am not affirming that the conditions will be safe for everyone. Please make your own decision on whether or not to attend.
Please bring your own mat and dress appropriately for the conditions (layers are recommended). As the field is sometimes damp, I recommend either having a dedicated mat for outdoor classes or using some sort of waterproof base under your mat if you don’t want your mat getting wet.
