Join me at Lynnwood Community Hall (15525 84 Avenue NW, Edmonton) for a refreshing Yoga and Ayurveda workshop. Everyone welcome!

Sunday, April 13, 9am-12pm

Ayurveda is the ancient Science of Life and is often referred to as the “Sister Science” of Yoga.

Late Winter-early Spring is Kapha season, when the earth and water elements become more dominant. When you go outside in the Spring, you will see lots of water (melting snow, rain, puddles, sleet, slush) and when the water combines with earth, we get mud. We can get stuck in actual mud of course (ever lost a shoe walking through a muddy field?), and we can also feel bogged down, heavy and sluggish energetically.

Kapha is the anabolic Dosha, associated with growth. We also see a lot of growth in the Spring as flowers begin to emerge from the earth, trees start to bud and baby animals arrive. When Kapha is out of balance, we can see excess growth in the form of weight gain.

Everyone is a unique blend of all three Doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Those who are Kapha-dominant may be more affected by the increased Kapha in the Spring, but anyone can have a Kapha imbalance.

In this workshop, I will guide you through an uplifting Hatha Yoga practice, designed to get us unstuck from the “mud”. We will then discuss the basics of Ayurveda with a focus on Kapha Dosha and will explore lifestyle and diet tips to help us work toward balance and optimal health. We’ll wrap it all up with Restorative Yoga.

Please bring your own mat and wear comfortable clothing. You will also need the following props for Restorative Yoga:

  • Bolster (if you don’t have one, you can make your own – ask me how!)
  • Several blankets (you can’t have too many blankets for Restorative Yoga)
  • Several blocks of different sizes (thin and thick)
  • Eye pillow if you have one (or use a hand towel)
  • Extra layers, socks

Please pre-register on my website so I have an idea of numbers. Payment can then be made through my online shop, by e-transfer to kpoweryoga@shaw.ca or by cash or cheque at the event. Any questions, please contact me.
