Meditation does not have to be complicated.  We don’t need special cushions, music, candles or even silence.  Meditation can be as simple as closing your eyes and following your breath. 

It’s not about emptying your mind, that will never happen, it is about noticing your thoughts and letting them go. 

This quote from Shunryu Suzuki explains this concept quite nicely: “Leave your front door and back door open.  Let your thoughts come and go.  Just don’t serve them tea.”
